"Holy Wars" (Megadeth) Solos Transcription & Lesson/Analysis
Added 2024-03-18 16:04:15 +0000 UTCIt's one of my missions as part of the Guitar School to accurately transcribe all famous and highly requested Metal guitar solos, so that you guys have peace of mind when learning them and don't have to deal with dubious online tabs.
I'm also incredibly eager to get through ALL Rust In Peace solos as soon as possible, so next up we have all 3 legendary Marty Friedman solos from Holy Wars!
These 3 solos are a very typical Marty affair, featuring arpeggios-a-plenty, extremely original phrasing and some huge bends to boot! The 2 electric solos are nowhere near as difficult as Tornado Of Souls etc though and shouldn't pose much of a problem for the intermediate players among you. The acoustic solo, however, is quite a challenge due to it's "free" rhythmic nature and demanding chromatic licks - so best of luck with that one!
Good luck and don't forget to share your progress with everyone in the Discord server!

2024-03-23 15:31:24 +0000 UTCIβd love to see some early Metallica solos (Lux Aterna asideπ) but I feel Kirk doesnβt get enough credit for his early solos which are really good tbh, itβs just shadowed by his Iβm in the biggest metal band in the world so I donβt care if my solos suck I make money either way attitude. But the first solo in fade to black is perfect imo and for fast solos that sound amazing I love the creeping death solo or both solos in blackened, and Sanitarium and all three solos in one hit so well! So yeah Iβd love to see some early Kirk or James solos that wereβ¦ actually really good! π also thank you for this lesson I learned the acoustic solo for the first time and realized I was playing the first solo so damn wrong luckily I was accurate for the last solo, and Daveβs solo is only really playable note for note towards which has some pretty awesome lines! Also as much as I love every single song on rust in peace, most of countdown and youthanasia and KIMBABIG and peace sells and almost every Megadeth Album minus like 3, Iβve always said that Holy Wars is there best musically written song it is a perfect song imo, itβs written like a musically orchestrated metal encore that somehow can take two different songs mash them together and make the best metal song ever made! Also the rhythm guitar parts in this song are so fucking good the verse especially itβs harder than intro (like Jesus the verse is tough) plus the small breakdowns in between the riff right before the verse are so cool! Iβd recommend any guitar player to not just learn these solos and learn the entire song lead and rhythm and youβll be happy you did!

2024-03-20 01:41:47 +0000 UTCGreat Lesson ! Ever considering including tutorials on Dave Mustaine's solo sections in Megadeth songs. Seems his parts are less touched on by most youtubers.
