red sonja sanguine pencils

This Red Sonja drawing is fun to do. I'm trying something new for the first time – a mix of sanguine pencil/dry pencil with Arches paper and watercolor. I want to see how it looks with watercolor on top. With normal pencil, the paint can cover the lines, but you can still see the gray graphite underneath. With the sanguine pencil, I think it will give a light red effect under the watercolor, which, in my opinion, fits the theme well.

Talking about the composition of this art, it's easy to see if you know the rule of thirds. Red Sonja's body and face are aligned with the left line, while the head of the still-living man is aligned with the right line. It's a simple and clear composition.

I hope you enjoy this "draft - pencils" version. I won't ink it now; I'll move on to coloring with watercolor. But I'll still try to bring a digital INK version to offer for download here for those who want to try their own colors on this art.
