Contributing Digital Financial Services / FinTech Writer

The Mondato Insight (Emerging Market Digital Finance)

With an audience comprising executives, professionals and investors in the digital financial services space, Mondato Insight explores on a deeper, intellectual level topics spanning digital financial services, with a global outlook and emphasis on emerging markets. Synthesizing primary reporting with secondary research and astute analysis, a contributing writer should have the reporting acumen and critical thinking ability to unearth new trends and provide thought-provoking insights on topics pertinent to digital financial services (including but not limited to digital commerce, financial inclusion, mobile money, mobile payments, remittances, and cryptocurrency). We aren’t looking to regurgitate what’s already out there, but to dig deeper into unexplored areas while providing original thought. With a wide intellectual latitude offered to writers that prove themselves, this is a fantastic opportunity for experienced writers seeking to display their journalistic and analytical capabilities as well as hungry, young journalists with sharp, analytical minds and excellent writing skills.

CORE REQUIREMENTS:

• Background in business research and/or business communications;
• Outstanding writing and editing skills;
• Familiarity with digital media and writing for the web;
• Grasp of overall digital media landscape and online research methods;
• Experience working with an editor;
• Experience writing under deadline;
• Intellectual curiosity and dexterity;
• Excellent journalistic rigor
• Demonstrated strong self-management skills; and
• Ability to multi-task, to prioritize and to set and achieve goals.

DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS:

• Experience in business journalism as a writer and/or editor;
• Strong academic track record, and self-motivated to achieve excellence;
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PPT), collaborative tools (Google Docs);
• Familiarity with emerging markets (Africa, Asia, and Latin America);
• Familiarity with topics and issues pertaining to financial technology
• Ability to maintain a brand voice in written work; and
• Experience conducting and recording interviews for media publications.
