Patreon Monthly Journal - August 2021

Hello peeps. I hope you are all doing fine. It is that time of the month when I sit down, try to remember what happened during the month that is ending and somehow write it down in a way that anyone else can make sense of it. Oof, easier said than done… So, where should I start?

I honestly feel like my art skills might have increased a bit these couple of months, just like… 20% or something? I must admit that the change or improvement might not be that noticeable but it’s there, I can feel it in my bones haha. I believe it is —to some extent— due to the fact that I’ve been forced to push some limitations a little bit, the most important one being the fact that my laptop is temporarily dead. Yes, that one tool I use a lot for my artworks and management is gone for now. Caput. I don’t know if you remember my exodus that started with Blue Screens of Death, followed by my PC not letting me log into my user and then showing messages that the hard drive is due to an imminent failure and needed to back up the data ASAP and get a replacement. Luckily, though, my boyfriend had the awesome idea of subscribing us to an enhanced Google Drive storage so I could synch all my art data there and keep it safe. So, regardless, I lost nothing important. Seriously, he’s the smartest potato ever and I dunno what I’d do without him. 💕

So yeah, I’ve been forced to work entirely on my iPad with Clip Studio Paint and relying on the files I can download from the cloud to kinda replicate what I was able to do with Photoshop. And that’s what I mean with “to have pushed some limitations” because I had to rely more on my skills to make the drawings look better and also to learn new tricks to add finishing touches. Ahm… does it make sense? The good news is that I can save my laptop, it just needs a few replacements for the battery, HD, a shiny SSD and maintenance. Hopefully it’ll be up and running by next month. So yeah~

I also wanted to mention that I’m quite flattered by your comments on the recent NSFW artworks featuring my OCs. Like, seriously, aknclsfjcb~ 🙈 You already kinda know they mean a lot to me, so having that kind of content to be well received is a blessing. ^^

On a personal note, this month has been an interesting rollercoaster. I’m not sure if I can totally explain why, it’s just the way it feels. I’ve been having to wake up at around 5:30 AM to attend to German lessons, something I was definitely not used to for a long while but definitely worth it, haha. There’s also the stress caused by the laptop issue; family drama and this lingering feeling of isolation due to the panini and the fact that I can’t go out with a lot of people because the ‘Rona cases rose recently and some of my friends got infected, some of them are busy and my bf is 10,000 Km away…. sigh. It’s tough.

But on a lighter note! My mom got the first shot of the vaccine a few days ago and I’m so happy for her! I will get my degree tittle in late September —then I’ll make a copy and burn it down to ashes— and I will visit my boyo mid-October. Yeah, nice things will happen. :’D

But anyway, I better wrap this up. I’ll be trying to figure out a way to organize the monthly rewards and upload them from the iPad or something so I’ll keep you updated on that.
