The Wrong Question:
The idea behind The Wrong Question is to take a current topic that people are discussing, and then twist it into something a little out of left field. So, using the first week as an example, everyone's generally asking "What's Your Most Anticipated Game of 2024?" and I changed the date to 1994. The next week, we went with, "What can Sony do to get more subscribers to cancel PlayStation Plus?"
If you submit a suggestion for The Wrong Question, recognize that I'm only asking one question each week, whether that comes from myself or a patron submission, but if there's something I like, I will make a note of it to perhaps bring it up in the future.
Submissions should be quick one sentence questions without any additional preamble, although you can include a brief "off-air" explanation if you think that helps. Please only submit one suggestion for The Wrong Question per week, but feel free to submit to both The Wrong Question and Love & Respect.

Salam Allies, Did Phil Spencer fail, is any of this on him? Or was the damage of Don Mattrick and the Xbox One just too steep of a hill to climb? There are countless things about the rapid rise of AI that societally we still don’t know how to prepare for. Personally I am really worried by the prospect of people getting replaced in writing/visual design fields, because to me passionate people are the main thing that makes creative projects so engaging and rewarding. However, I also wonder what positives could come from emerging AI technologies being used in game development, an industry that strives to be at the forefront of technological innovation and application. Many popular games these days are not just handcrafted by people. No Man’s Sky and Lethal Company both use procedural generation, as does the wildly popular rogue-like genre, so it’s not like the idea of playing a game featuring generated content is taboo. One way I’ve wondered about AI being used is in Madden. I’ve been playing Madden for over a decade now, and one constant complaint fans have had throughout the series is about the in game commentary. Whether or not you like the broadcasters, if you play enough games you will start to hear the same repeated voice lines over and over again. I think it could be possible at some point in the future for Madden and other sports franchises to switch over to AI voiced commentators, that instead of repeating situational pre written lines are able to dynamically speak about what’s happening and be unique to each game played. It certainly seems a lot less far fetched now than it may have just a few years ago. Are there any ways that you think the use of AI could assist in game development in groundbreaking ways (besides the dystopian ones)? LnR Matt Currin aka HikarW

Recently they are holding a promotion where you can upgrade from essential to extra for the same price as essential so I upgraded to try it out. The thing is, for me, I have been hesitant to try these "game pass" like subscriptions in the past because I usually own or have played a majority of the games on offer that would interest me, which I know is a privilege that many don't have. But I looked over the game catalog on offer right now and I saw about 20 games out of a couple hundred that interest me to play or try out. So my question is this, what are your personal experiences with game pass like subscriptions? Have they been a good value/ something you enjoyed and got a lot out of? Also given my situation do you think a game pass subscription is a good fit for me? Given I own or played many of the games on offer and still have a decent back catalog to go through, does the monthly refresh of games on the service make it worthwhile? Appreciate your feedback.

L&R: before getting into the industry, what is the most absurd number of hours you put into a game in the shortest amount of time? I put fifty hours into both GTA V and MGSV: The Phantom Pain in about a week. No regrets.

Some series seem to have found a satisfying end to a story like God of War Ragnarok. While others, used sequels to further explore gameplay opportunities, like Tears of the Kingdom. Unfortunately there are some series that may have ended too soon, like Half-Life or Titanfall. What is a game each of you would like to see get a third installment? Thanks! Bonus: What is a video game trilogy that may have been better served as a duology?

The Xbox 3rd party rumors have entered a new level of fever pitch insanity, but one thing that I haven’t heard anybody discuss is the correlation with the massive FTC leak that occurred a few months ago. Between the “adorably all-digital” Xbox series X refresh, to the promise of an always online cloud-hybrid next gen console, it seemed like practically no one was a fan of the direction for Xbox hardware. Is it possible that the miserable fan perception caused Xbox to completely gut their future plans, and the final straw that got Satya Nadella, the CEO of Microsoft, to finally step in, and take the reins from Phil? It appears from the outside that there’s in-fighting within Xbox, as messaging wildly varies, depending on who’s talking. Side note, I just bought my friend a Series X, but I have no regrets, thanks to Game Pass. It’s quite an “incredible value”. Love and respect!

2024-02-06 16:42:32 +0000 UTCHello Allies, I'm currently on my way to beat Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty! Everything currently is so great. Playing music while just exploring is something that should of been in the game since the beginning. These devs do not quit. This game to me is a 9 or maybe a little higher in it's current form. I am so eager for it's sequel since they learn and improve like no other dev. To the panel what would you like for a sequel? Should it stay 1st person or go to 3rd. Id prefer a hybrid and do not want the excuse of it's more immersive. The outfits are amazing and should be shown more. L&R

This past week, Naughty Dog released Grounded II: The making of the Last of Us Part II and it's a very good watch into behind the scenes of what went into the game's development. Of course, at the very end Neil Druckmann teased he finally was able to decide upon the concept of what a third Last of Us could be about, even though he doesn't have the story yet. As you can imagine, this picked up headlines and because of that predictability, I wanted to ask you: What are some examples (if you can think of any) of "non-news" in gaming people took and ran with? I understand this was a calculated decision to include it in this documentary, but I don't see the point yet. Thanks for taking this submission if you do and stay Easy fellow Allies!
