The Wrong Question:
The idea behind The Wrong Question is to take a current topic that people are discussing, and then twist it into something a little out of left field. So, using the first week as an example, everyone's generally asking "What's Your Most Anticipated Game of 2024?" and I changed the date to 1994. The next week, we went with, "What can Sony do to get more subscribers to cancel PlayStation Plus?"
If you submit a suggestion for The Wrong Question, recognize that I'm only asking one question each week, whether that comes from myself or a patron submission, but if there's something I like, I will make a note of it to perhaps bring it up in the future.
Submissions should be quick one sentence questions without any additional preamble, although you can include a brief "off-air" explanation if you think that helps. Please only submit one suggestion for The Wrong Question per week, but feel free to submit to both The Wrong Question and Love & Respect.

Greeting Allies! Final Fantasy X was the second RPG I ever played and finished (the first being Kingdom Hearts which led me straight to FFX). One of the many reasons I think this game is a masterpiece is the relationship between Tidus and Yuna. Since it was the first depiction of romance I saw in video games it has slightly spoiled me to all other romances I have seen in games and in my opinion has never been matched. What are your favorite video game romances? And what is something you’ve experienced in a video game that had set such a high bar that it slightly spoiled future games for you in comparison? With Shadow of the Erdtree looking like a beefy expansion to an already massive main game in Elden Ring, and Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty capped a major redemption arc after its launch, what other games that are several years old would you like to see be given a big single-player DLC expansion over the next year? Additionally, if there were an expansion to a game what sort of new gameplay elements would you like to see added to them? L&R!

If I’m being honest, the first crash with Atari was slightly before my time, but a lot of the factors seem similar. While some like to exclusively point fingers at the failure of ET, the broader issue was more the fact that too many companies were trying to capitalize on the market in the wrong ways. For example, pet food companies put out blatant knock-off titles of popular franchises. Adult entertainment companies sold pornographic content. Lots of large companies were trying to get the biggest piece of the pie they could without understanding what market they were buying into or what their products actually were. Today, it’s become exhausting how routine it has become to hear about new rounds of layoffs. And yes, there are lots of reasons for this: like the changes in work or staffing structure during Covid and the rise in inflation. However, a pattern is emerging that is similar to what we saw 41 years ago. Large publishing companies are buying up small (and sometimes not small) studios and teams, and trying to maximize their profits without entirely realizing their demographic, product, or market. It’s created an ecosystem where even indie games cannot get attention unless they are bought by larger corporations. Yet even the biggest and best games are not safe from layoffs, cuts, or being shuttered altogether because of perceived market failure. When the biggest and best games are selling more than ever and people are also losing their jobs more than ever, maybe something has to change. I don’t think that has to equate to selling NFTs, increasing microtransactions, or implementing AI like executives seem to want to push. If this is bursting bubble could be considered a next generation video game crash, do you think it’s time for companies and studios to start scaling back? Has the idea of a successful AAA become too much of a pipedream? One time, the lead actor from Royal Pains asked if I could watch his laptop while he went to the bathroom in a Dunkin Donuts. A week or so later, my brother saw him at some event and had to tell him how wild of a coincidence it was that two siblings saw him in such a short span of time. What are some of the most bizarre chance or coincidental encounters you have ever experienced? Wrong Question: With too many players clogging up the Helldivers 2 servers, which of these PS3 online multiplayer games should Sony bring back to lure players away from Helldivers; MAG, Defiance, or Dust 514?

So even if you don't know what happened in the past, you know who they are and where they are on their character arcs.

I have still been thinking about GTA and console generations: Grand Theft Auto V is the 2nd best selling game of all time and has been released across 3 generations of consoles. GTA 6 may very well do the same. With this in mind, it's hard not to think "why not wait to play it on the future PS or Xbox?" I know this could be said for most modern games, but it feels especially relevant to GTA now. Besides GTA what is another game each of you have waited to play on the next generation?

While it maybe my most anticipated game trilogy of all time, I actually didn't feel the agony of having to wait for this second installment only until roughly a week ago. As a result, I have been constantly playing or watching a lot of Final Fantasy VII Remake and the recently released Rebirth demo. Thus inspires my question: When was the last time you anticipated a game so much, you dedicated an unhealthy amount of time to supplemental material to immerse yourself in a given world and/or characters? Prior games, books, YouTube videos, official trailers, and anything else are fair game. Thanks for taking this submission if you do and stay Easy fellow Allies!

I feel like it’s influenced me greatly- I never wanted the Xbox because it looked so bad and genuinely feel like I’m holding off on the PS5 till they release a new model- conversely my Dreamcast has a place on my mantelpiece because I just love how it looks so much and the PsOne with the mini tv display is still the most futuristic amazing piece of machinery I’ve ever seen

This month Capnbobamous gathered us for our 8th Hall of Greats. It’s pretty much the same as yours, but we run both presentations and cross-examinations for a week to accommodate everyone’s schedules and we also allow text presentations, which by the way is the most popular format. This time our nominees were: Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction, The Witness, The Talos Principle, Fallout: New Vegas, SSX 3, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective.
