Love and Respect for Mar 1st Podcast
Added 2024-02-26 19:38:36 +0000 UTCWell February went by quick. Greetings, it's time to get your submissions in for this week's podcast, including Love & Respect and "The Wrong Question." Not too sure on topics just yet, but we will definitely be going over the January sales report. Be sure to include your preferred name if it's different from what's listed on your Patreon profile. Please submit your entries by Wednesday at 5:00 PM.
Love & Respect:
Type your question, topic, or game in the comments below. If your entry is not selected, feel free to submit it again the following week. We appreciate your support and are grateful for each and every submission, if we're able to include them in the podcast or not.
The Wrong Question:
The idea behind The Wrong Question is to take a current topic that people are discussing, and then twist it into something a little out of left field. So, using the first week as an example, everyone's generally asking "What's Your Most Anticipated Game of 2024?" and I changed the date to 1994. The next week, we went with, "What can Sony do to get more subscribers to cancel PlayStation Plus?"
If you submit a suggestion for The Wrong Question, recognize that I'm only asking one question each week, whether that comes from myself or a patron submission, but if there's something I like, I will make a note of it to perhaps bring it up in the future.
Submissions should be quick one sentence questions without any additional preamble, although you can include a brief "off-air" explanation if you think that helps. Please only submit one suggestion for The Wrong Question per week, but feel free to submit to both The Wrong Question and Love & Respect.

With over 8k layoffs year-to-date, I am not most upset with the corpos that made the decisions… like it or not, this is what they do. I am not most upset with game budgets going out of control or the relentless pursuit of infinite revenue growth. I’m most upset with the silence from supposed industry champion Geoff Keighley. With the loudest voice in the industry and the figurehead of the three largest conferences of the year, Geoff seems to only call out poor conditions for workers if their last name is Kojima. With his refusal to acknowledge layoffs, his shilling of AI content, and cutting off creator voices during the very event he created to celebrate them, it feels like Geoff only serves Geoff and not the industry he worked so hard to represent. Do we deserve a better champion than Geoff Keighley? Or is this an unfair expectation of an industry voice? Adoration and admiration.

2024-02-28 14:42:34 +0000 UTCSalam Allies Im a big history buff and naturally have been a big assassins creed fan. I’ve been sharing this because I feel like there are some in our space who might enjoy it, but not know of its existence. An Egyptian series about the origins of the true Assassins that Mirage and the first creed game are based on should be out this year. https://youtu.be/DCO8fe0rOyE?si=BIlX7ctmA9hEKXvH PS Huber, I made it out of the first floor of the last trivia tower I was so excited I shouted across the apartment not knowing my wife was taking a nap😂 Love & Respect LionOfTheDesert

2024-02-27 22:24:56 +0000 UTCHi Allies, I recently played through Silent Hill: Shattered Memories and really enjoyed it. It's the only SH game I've played (so far), but I know it's a re-imagining of the first game and I thought it worked really well despite it playing completely different from any other SH game. With Rebirth also on our minds, are there any other older games you'd like to see get re-imaginings versus just straight remakes? Could be games you didn't like very much but you think could benefit from a new playstyle or games you've always loved but would enjoy seeing a fresh take on. L&R Logan Tawse

2024-02-27 16:46:10 +0000 UTCHello Allies, This is going to be a long one and a hot take. The game industry is ever-changing but I feel like we give Nintendo a pass on so many things. Pokemon for example is almost always the same thing and people just eat it up. Only now they are trying new things with Pokemon Arceus. It seems they primarily live off of just nostalgia and I feel like the majority of the people just have to deal with it. When do you think Nintendo gamers will finally say enough? When was the last time a new IP from Nintendo came out and also stuck with it? It just seems they are going the " safe " route all to often. Sony does a similar thing and right now we are just waiting for sequels. I just played Ghost of Tsushima and I really enjoyed something new. My question is what is needed for Nintendo, Xbox and playstation to try something new and stick with it rather then just releasing the same IP over the span of 10 years? I feel like a great team for example Remedy can make a great game, have good marketing and it will sell good. After all Larian studios has already proven they can do it and set a new standard as well.

2024-02-27 16:13:16 +0000 UTCHey Allies, With Sony’s statement that the ps5 is entering the winter of its life I have seen some people calling this the “most disappointing console generation.” Whether it’s because there have just not been that many exclusives or it feels like we haven’t made an impressive enough technical leap, it’s clear some folks are unsatisfied. I personally believe between the Switch and PC gaming, the lines between generations have become quite blurred as it is. Maybe the designation is even a bit obsolete in 2024. How are you guys feeling, now that the generation seems to be entering its latter stages? l&r Matt B.

2024-02-27 08:40:33 +0000 UTCMy cousins had a GameCube memory card with their Monkey Ball scores from 2013 but lost it somewhere in 2021 during a move. They refuse to play the new games because they say they feel too different. What's the longest you guys have held onto a console/game and what happened that finally took it's life?

2024-02-27 07:44:25 +0000 UTCHi Allies, This is a bit of a complicated thought, so please bear with me We’ve seen several times the developers of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth talk about how you don’t need to have played FF7 Remake to have a fulfilling experience playing Rebirth. I believe them. I’ve played many games that weren’t the first in the franchise and had a good time, like God of War 2018. My question is, why do you think Nintendo was unwilling to make a more direct sequel to a game like Breath of the Wild? TOTK in many instances had characters like Hestu not remember you or events like the Calamity mostly ignored. This, I’m assuming, is so newer players don’t feel left out if they didn’t play BOTW. But I feel it shortchanged players who had. What do you all think? Love and Respect Rahul

2024-02-27 02:03:40 +0000 UTCWassup Allies, Just finished watching through the FFVII Rebirth discussion and it was a great time, y’all killed it! It also inspired me to rewatch the game trailers E3 2015 reactions for the billionth time. Obviously that Sony show is remembered for its big 3 of announcements, opening with the last guardian which hadn’t been seen for like seven years, the announcement of FFVII remake, and the revival of Shenmue on kickstarter. So I had a funny thought I figured I would turn into a game. Below I’ve made an in order recap of the entire Sony press conference from E3 2015. How many other games and segments can you remember? Good luck LnR Matt Currin aka HikarW - Opening montage - Sean Laden monologues - The Last Guardian trailer - Guerilla reveals new IP Horizon Zero Dawn w/ gameplay - Hitman reboot - Street Fighter 5 (Cammy and Birdie revealed) - No Man’s Sky live gameplay demo (shows universe and picks a random planet to go to) - Dreams - Fire watch - Destiny - The Taken King - Assassin’s Creed Syndicate - World of Final Fantasy - Remake - 4 Devolver games (Ronin, EITR, Mother Russia Bleeds, Crossing Souls) - Shenmue III Kickstarter - Batman Arkham Knight (with PS4 exclusive Scarecrow missions) - Project Morpheus - Rigs (vr multiplayer game) - PlayStation Music w/ Spotify - PlayStation Vue (a la carte channels) - Call of Duty Black Ops III (now with PlayStation first marketing, how’d that work out? lol) - Disney infinity 3.0 with Star Wars - Star Wars Battlefront - Uncharted 4 live gameplay demo, which we know was live because when they started it, Drake didn’t move and then they restarted it
