Love and Respect for Mar 8th Podcast
Added 2024-03-05 01:04:02 +0000 UTCGreetings, it's time to get your submissions in for this week's podcast, including Love & Respect and "The Wrong Question." We'll definitely be talking about that Xbox Partner Preview, happening Wednesday morning. Be sure to include your preferred name if it's different from what's listed on your Patreon profile. Please submit your entries by Wednesday at 5:00 PM.
Love & Respect:
Type your question, topic, or game in the comments below. If your entry is not selected, feel free to submit it again the following week. We appreciate your support and are grateful for each and every submission, if we're able to include them in the podcast or not.
The Wrong Question:
The idea behind The Wrong Question is to take a current topic that people are discussing, and then twist it into something a little out of left field. So, using the first week as an example, everyone's generally asking "What's Your Most Anticipated Game of 2024?" and I changed the date to 1994. The next week, we went with, "What can Sony do to get more subscribers to cancel PlayStation Plus?"
If you submit a suggestion for The Wrong Question, recognize that I'm only asking one question each week, whether that comes from myself or a patron submission, but if there's something I like, I will make a note of it to perhaps bring it up in the future.
Submissions should be quick one sentence questions without any additional preamble, although you can include a brief "off-air" explanation if you think that helps. Please only submit one suggestion for The Wrong Question per week, but feel free to submit to both The Wrong Question and Love & Respect.

Hello Allies, There’s no doubt the soundtrack of a game is crucial to it’s success and permanence within the hearts and minds of players. With so many memorable pieces of distinct styles ranging from “Hopes and Dreams” in Undertale (in 8 bit fashion) to “Find the Flame” in FFXVI (full on orchestra), not to mention Nier Automata’s OST, it got me to thinking what is the panels current or all time favorite songs or soundtracks in gaming. Keep up the amazing content and let’s enjoy together the year of the RPG. L&R

2024-03-06 18:11:51 +0000 UTCWith over 8k layoffs year-to-date, I am not most upset with the corpos that made the decisions… like it or not, this is what they do. I am not most upset with game budgets going out of control or the relentless pursuit of infinite revenue growth. I’m most upset with the silence from supposed industry champion Geoff Keighley. With the loudest voice in the industry and the figurehead of the three largest conferences of the year, Geoff seems to only call out poor conditions for workers if their last name is Kojima. With his refusal to acknowledge layoffs, his shilling of AI content, and cutting off creator voices during the very event he created to celebrate them, it feels like Geoff only serves Geoff and not the industry he worked so hard to represent. Do we deserve a better champion than Geoff Keighley? Or is this an unfair expectation of an industry voice? Adoration and admiration.

2024-03-05 20:54:30 +0000 UTCHey Allies, This week, a former artist at Free Radical revealed some internal footage from the now cancelled Timesplitters remake project. At first glance, this footage appears to be from a demo reel intended for publishers and other decision makers, mainly featuring the Fortnite Clone aspects of the game that were originally pitched before the pivot to a more faithful Timesplitters 2 remake in MArch 2023. There has been some conversations online about whether Free Radical ever really believed in the Fortnite clone idea, pitching it simply to secure funding for the project, and always secretly hoping for an opportunity to pivot the concept. And so that brought to mind a question I would love to ask you all. To bring back a dormant IP that you would love to see return to relevance, how would you pitch a game idea to the shareholders to secure the maximum amount of funding possible? For example, bring back Banjo but in a Fall Guys style platformer battle royale, with MTX, unlockable outfits for your Banjo, etc. Eventually we'll add a campaign. Eventually. 2024-03-05 14:23:46 +0000 UTCWrong Question: What do you think about the casting decisions of the live-action Final Fantasy VII HBO series? That director too.... it's really gonna be something to see where they take the source material. L&R: Can you talk about the fickle mistress that is Tik-Tok? How has Easy Allies' experience been with the platform? The algorithm is bizarre. I often post in both Ukrainian and English and even though the majority of viewers are native Ukrainian speakers in Kyiv where I live, the English-language tik toks almost always get more views, likes, and engagement still from people living in Ukraine. P.S. look up jason_wojnar if you're interested 😊 and allow for the plug.

2024-03-05 09:02:59 +0000 UTCHello Allies, I Haven’t submitted in a while, but I am back with the third installment of a game where I pit the Metacritic user scores of games from two iconic franchises/companies. So far, we did Mario vs. Zelda and FromSoftware vs Final Fantasy. This time around it’s the battle of the MK’s. Mortal Kombat vs. Mario Kart. The rules are the same, I will list two games and you guess which game has the better Metacritic USER score. P.S. I am open to suggestions on the name of this game. L&R. Cody 1. Deadly Alliance PS2 - 7.7 (92 ratings) vs. Double Dash Gamecube – 8.5 (521 ratings) 2. Ultimate Mortal Kombat DS – 8.2 (25 ratings) vs. Mario Kart DS – 8.7 (787 ratings) 3. Shaolin Monks PS2 – 8.9 (209 ratings) vs. Mario Kart Wii – 8.6 (1,083 ratings) 4. Mortal Kombat 2011 360 – 8.4 (502 ratings) Vs. Mario Kart 7 3DS – 8.2 (994 ratings) 5. Mortal Kombat X PS4 – 7.7 (1,256 ratings) Vs. Mario Kart 8 Wii U – 8.7 (2,058 ratings) 6. Mortal Kombat 1 PS5 – 7.0 (1,082 ratings) vs. Mario Kart 64 – 8.5 (521 ratings) 7. Mortal Kombat Mobile – 6.3 (58 ratings) vs. Mario Kart Tour – 4.3 (341 ratings) 8. Mortal Kombat 11 PS4 – 4.0 (2,245 ratings) vs. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – 8.6 (3,070 ratings)

2024-03-05 06:53:38 +0000 UTCHello allies. Content generation is used in game development for ages – from producing 3D terrain from height map texture in Myst to procedurally populating environments with vegetation in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. AI is also proven itself as a useful tool, most notably with boosting visual fidelity and framerates via image reconstruction. Yet for some reason I see a lot of pushback against generative AI which, as I see it, is nothing more than an accessibility option for content generation as now you can use natural human language to get what you want instead of having to write the code. I get that some developers may not be happy that more people will now be able to do their job and will compete with them on the market, but I don’t understand why players are getting upset about technology that will make games easier and cheaper to make. Thoughts?

2024-03-05 05:49:03 +0000 UTCGame: Guess the Smash Trophy! Let’s play a game! Can you guess the Smash Bros Trophy based on their description? These can be trophies from any smash game (Melee, Brawl, Wii U). First one to guess correct gets a point! Where the BLANK loves to create, its alter ego is impulsive and destructive, consumed with that hollow feeling which comes from destroying one's own creations. The BLANK appears when a player clears obstacles quickly and the BLANK’s power is low. You have only one chance to defeat the BLANK - Answer: Crazy Hand BLANK is a mysterious middle-aged man who thinks he's "the very reincarnation of a fairy." His bizarre behavior and unique speech are just little pieces of his vibrant personality. BLANK travels by way of a small hot air balloon, making maps of the lands below him. Pop his balloon, and BLANK will fall to earth to sell his maps. - Answer: Tingle The BLANK assumes a forward lunge, extending one arm forward and one back at shoulder level. This pose builds powerful thigh muscles and realigns the hips. With a devastating, strong forward smash, the BLANK can send opponents flying in both directions! - Answer: Wii Fit Trainer BLANK are actually traitors who've defected from the Mushroom Kingdom's forces. They're a slow and predictable nuisance, as they always try to wander into Mario's path. Fortunately for Mario, they don't have much stamina, as a single jump on the head is generally enough to defeat them. - Answer: Goomba BLANK love to sleep and love to eat: these portly BLANK get grumpy if they don't get 880 pounds of food per day. After snacking out, they always nap. They have cast-iron stomachs and can eat moldy and even rotten food with no digestion problems. They are the heaviest BLANK on record, weighing in at over 1,000 pounds. - Answer: Snorlax BLANK has been BLANKS’s number-one rival and best friend since they trained together as children under the same master. In fact, the headband BLANK wears was a gift from BLANK! Along with being a very talented martial artist, BLANK is also heir to his rich father's Masters Foundation. But sorry, would-be suitors, BLANK's married and has a son! - Answer: Ken Here is a man who immortalises animals in mechanical form because he just loves them so much! Wait. That's not quite right... Instead of using his talents for peaceful ventures, BLANK, a scientist with an IQ of 300, nurtures plans for BLANK-land to reach all four corners of the world. First poaching animals, now this? Terrible. - Answer: Dr. Eggman

2024-03-05 02:24:29 +0000 UTCHello Allies, Persona 3 Reload has been such a joy for me to play, as I never played past the opening in the original on PS2. The one thing that think would have been a nice touch though would have been the inclusion of the female protagonist from P3P. So to my surpise, the modding community decide they wanted her in the game, and now they have a alot of work done on it. I feel like mod can sometime add some fun to video games, like replacing charcters like the first dragon in Skyrim with Randy Savage or Mr. X with Thomas the Tank Engine. However, mod that add removed content are what I think we need more of. My question is this, have any of you seen the progress on the female protagonist for P3R and what are some of your favorite mods? Love and Respect

2024-03-05 01:44:15 +0000 UTCHello Allies! I have a problem with the phrase 'Nintendo is running their own race'. I understand the sentiment, that Nintendo is good at doing their own thing, different from what Sony and Microsoft are doing, but the more I hear it the more I think it diminishes their success. Sony and Microsoft have managed to get stuck playing the game in a similar way, while Nintendo have found an alternate strategy, but they are absolutely competing for the same money from your wallet and same space in your mind. Nintendo aren't running their own race, they're running (and maybe winning?) the same race, just DIFFERENTLY. Is it time we stopped saying otherwise? Love & Respect, ohbigstretch
