I’m one of those folks who doesn’t care about spoilers. Usually I can’t even afford the game but will have the thought of”I wonder how that story will turn out?” So I’ll just google it rather than miss out on a conversation I’ll otherwise not have. I remember about a decade ago telling a friend about this obscure anime I liked, particularly the ending, and he stonewalled me right there, refusing to hear any spoilers. I asked him if that meant he was gonna watch it, and he admitted, no, he was never probably going to get around to it. He was just so conditioned to be adverse to spoilers that he would constantly throw shields up when he encountered them. I asked him if this was weird and he said no, but couldn’t explain why. 🤷 Like it’s the “funny number kid” meme it feels like; people conditioned to be adverse to spoilers to the point where they don’t really know why or think it’s more detrimental to them than it actually is.
