From Cuba with love... and respect, I've been living in the states for about 15 years now, but I've been a hardcore gamer since I was a kid. This was the early 90s so do the math. The other day a coworker that knows I'm Cuban and I like video games asked me if I knew about the first Cuban Indie game and he showed me a clip. The game in question is Saviorless and I had not heard about it but it immediately looked familiar. Upon some research I realized that I knew the designer, he was a friend of a friend and we used to hang out when we were teenegers, back then both my friend and the game creator were attending a designer school. Seeing the style of the game I almost immediately recognized his style of drawing. So my question is. Have any of you found out by accident that a person you know was making a great game? Also, have any of you played a game created in a place you were surprised about? Love and respect. Hector from Miami, FL

2024-04-18 22:55:09 +0000 UTCWhat’s Up Allies, As a child, with little money and few games, I had to come up with unique was to entertain myself with games I had played extensively. My brother and I adored Kirby Air Ride. After unlocking just about everything, we came up with our own little sub-game to keep ourselves entertained. We called it Tag; I would select a fast car with good flying, and he would select the one with the most attack power. In Free Play, I’d get a 10 second head start, then he’d chase me and kill me. Whether it lasted 45 seconds or 45 minutes, there was literally no way for me to win. But I loved it. My question to you is: What unique ways of playing a game have you come up with? Or what odd rules for gameplay have you imposed on yourself or others? Love and Respect, Matan

2024-04-17 22:42:48 +0000 UTCHey Allies, Has there ever been a piece of a game that’s lived rent free in your mind? After enjoying every minute and platinuming Ghost of Tsushima on lethal difficulty (per Huber’s suggestion) in the year of its release, there is one stand out thing I just can’t get out of my mind. The experience of Jin Sakai standing there blade extended after one smooth strike as the final enemy falls slowly to the ground. Then Jin flicks the blood off the blade and sheathes his katana. The lethal difficulty definitely made this conclusion so satisfying. So satisfying that I never played the ninja path and always confront enemies head on and through the main gate when given the option. It never seems to leave my mind and I will think of it at least once a day. Looking forward to hear what piece of gaming is stuck in your heads! L&R JiggyDigs

2024-04-17 02:50:40 +0000 UTCHello Allies! I was revisiting Max Payne 3 a while back and was thinking about how cool it was that they got Health to do not just one song but the entire soundtrack for the game. It got me thinking of a question: what band or artist would you pair with what game? In other words if you could have any musical act do the score to a new game in any franchise, what artist and what game would you pair? (or type of game if you don’t want to do a specific franchise). For me I would have Clipping do the score to a new System Shock or Prey game, one of these immersive sims about space and computers and meat. Take care, love and respect Colin

2024-04-16 20:53:37 +0000 UTCHi Allies! Long time supporter, first time writer While replaying Elden Ring in order to get warmed up for the coming DLC I was struck by a sudden urge to retry beating the FromSoftware game I gave up on back in the day: Dark Souls (Remastered). Why? I'm not sure. Much like Isla I do enjoy Nine Inch Nails now and then and I guess I want to be able to relate while listening to "Hurt". Anyway my first grievance came when facing the Capra demon. I had lived in ignorant bliss after repressing all memory of that cramped and annoying fight with that bastard and his dogs in that God damn ally. After screaming and cursing for a while I took some deep breaths and finally came out victorious. However... What now fills my mind with dread, while I stumble and die onwards through Lordran, is the coming fight that caused me to shamefully abandon this game years ago... Ornstein and Smough! So to my questions for the panel. Firstly: We often see discussions about what boss battles are the best, my favorite category at the yearly Easy Allies Awards, but do you have any boss battle that you dread when re-playing a game? Either because it's just really annoying or because it's really hard? Secondly: If you were a boss, in what game would you exist and what game mechanic or special attack would make battling you a horrible or great experience? Shoutout to Huber for always pushing Resident Evil. Last spring I finally caved and played through the remakes for 2, 3 and 4 in a row, man what a ride! Thanks for being consistently awesome, Love and respect! /Andreas

2024-04-16 18:16:58 +0000 UTCHey Allies, I love when new information both makes logical sense but surprises me anyway. I cannot believe that Keanu is playing Shadow the Hedgehog. Simultaneously, of course Keanu is playing Shadow the Hedgehog! Question to the panel. If you had to voice a mascot character for an upcoming adaptation, who would it be, and perhaps give the audience a line read in character! Love and Respect, Harrison

2024-04-16 07:36:12 +0000 UTCHi Allies, Lying is bad, but I think the higher powers any of us might believe in can forgive us if it's to get into some event you really want to see and be a part of. This past weekend a band I like was doing a Q&A at a university that was only open to students. Long story short, I made it into the lecture hall to see the event after me and the saxophonist for the band recognized each other (we studied at the same music school) and he begged the organizer to let me in after she insisted the even was sold out and only for students. The lie I told? I told her I was only in Kyiv for a week and this would be my only chance to see them. So, have you ever lied or embellished the truth to get into a show/event/etc.? Do you feel bad for it? Also, listen to Schmalgauzen, they're great.

2024-04-16 06:47:40 +0000 UTCHello allies. Bugs, framerate, ai, net code, loading times, visual fidelity – we may not understand what exactly is happening when things go wrong, but most of us can recognize and will appreciate a game that is excellent on a technical level. Yet for some reason, our appreciation and recognition are oblivious to the people who are responsible for all those aspects – game programmers. We know the names of excellent directors, designers, composers, voice actors and writers, but hardly any of us can name even a single programmer, even though they are usually at the top of the credits. Any thoughts on why we don’t recognize the people who make video games an interactive media?

2024-04-16 04:43:22 +0000 UTCGreetings Allies! As usual, Square’s expectations aren’t being met. Looking at FF7 rebirth as an example, which do you think is the cause of the game not meeting sales expectations , despite being critically acclaimed? Release date? (There are a lot of games that release around each other. ) Game being too big? (A lot of complaints are about the Ubisoft style check list. If people see that, some people may be turned off by it.) Or there just aren’t enough PS5s out there? (When FF7 remake was released, there were more PS4s in the wild)
