Not a question, but low key breaking news The Simpsons Tapped Out on mobile is shutting down after over a decade of service https://www.reddit.com/r/tappedout/s/pJCeZqcKX6

Hello Allies. When NieR Automata came out back in 2017 I thought 2B's design was(and still is) amazing. Yoko Taro himself has in the past and now the team has been open that they gladly say yes to anything(in this case guest appearance) for money. She has appeared in many games like Soul Calibur 6, Fall Guys, Gravity Rush 2, Granblue Fantasy VS and so on as herself, as a skin and some have even modded on other games. What other games would you want, expect or be a perfect fit to see her be in? Love & Respect TearjuEngi

Hey allies, I don't want this to be another "hot take" on Astro Bot, but the game does make for a good jumping off point for a challenge some game series fac being the Pandora's box of cross over fan service I am definitely on the train that cross overs are a ton of fun, and I love games that make them a big focus, but does it create a level of hype that becomes harder and harder to achieve? I feel like the MCU is a good case study where it feels like after the Infinity War/Endgame hype, nothing has been able to create the same mind share of the public if they didn't include a massive cameo (eg. Spiderman) I think we have seen this happen with games like MvC Infinite and Team Sonic Racing, where they walked back the amount of cameos and that was part of the reason they fell flat with fans. With that lens I worry for things like Smash Bros and now Astro Bot - that they may be doomed to either keep trying to 1-up themselves or ultimately step down the fan service and lose interest of a large section of the audience. Am I wrong in thinking this is a problem for certain games? Or if you agree what do you think the solution is?

Hey Allies, The term 'soulless' feels like it has lost all meaning in the context of video game discourse, so let's have some fun with it. I've listed a bunch of random body parts below. Say the name of the first game that comes to mind for each body part! Spleen Intestines Fingernail Ear Chest Stomach Lungs Palm Love and Respect, Harrison

Hi Allies! With AI evolving so much so quickly, and recently being added to the PS5 pro in a small way, I think it's only a matter of time before AI is inside our games. It makes me wonder how's it will be utilized 5 or 10 years from now. Your companions in an RPG have AI built it so their responses to your actions are real time and specific to your playthrough. Or AI in a Sims games where each person in town has their own personality be shapen by you and each other. What are games or genres you think could benefit most from this? Or do you think the opposite, and would want AI away from games?

Since we gave Huber a hard time last week, here’s some extra love & respect for him this week and a big digital hug. We appreciate you staying positive and fighting all the cynicism out there with your passion for games and the humans making them.

I recently got the Gold Relic in the bonus Crash Bandicoot 1 level Stormy Ascent. For those who don't know, it's the level that was cut from the original game because it was too hard but it was added as free DLC to the remake. It took about 3 hours over two play sessions to get it. What's an optional challenge in a game that you didn't need to do for 100% completion but felt absolutely compelled to do.

Hello allies. Have you ever delayed playing your highly anticipated game so that you could play it in better conditions? I certainly did. As a big Dragon Age fan, I was really looking forward to playing Dragon Age: Inquisition on day 1, but when I’ve launched the game, I’ve realized that my PC forces me to choose between ugly visuals and playing at 15fps. After experimenting with settings for about an hour, I’ve closed the game, researched GPU market, ordered a new video card and waited for almost a week for the package to arrive. During all that time I wasn’t touching the game I wished to play so much, and it was absolutely worth it. Also, and Huber will probably not believe me, I’m really looking forward to being amazed by technical excellence of GTA VI, which is why I will not be touching console versions and will be waiting for the uncompromised PC release no matter how long that will take.

Greetings and Salutations Allies! I was wondering if we, as gamers and lovers of the artform that is the video game, really give enough thought to that Hoeg Law staple phrase, "Fiduciary Responsibility" when we lament how so many games are being created with similar mechanics. From what I can remember from how it was explained, publicly traded companies legally have to be trying their best to bring a profit to share holders. To not do so is to break the law, basically. What this means for game production must really handicap the creative process, or at the very least companies need to be able to explain WHY they created an amazing game that was niche compared to a more "cookie cutter" title that makes them a lot of money. We lament games as a service, but given that the industry has proven that is often the way to make the most profit, aren't companies kinda low-key forced to at least dip their toes into that market regardless of their own creative desires? That's why so many independent studios are so free to do whatever they want and drive the creativity of the gaming space since I assume most of them are not publicly trade companies. Are we as capital G Gamers being a little too harsh on bigger devs and publishers lack of diverse gaming experiences when we also know they have this responsibility always looming over them? Or am I taking that idea too far? Love and Respect, Jeff Kendall

Hey there Allies, Today I was thinking about Monster Rancher. Years ago, I remember playing the games on PS1 for the first time, and thinking how cool the Disk System is. For those who haven’t played a game in the series before, to get new monster creatures to raise, you’d go to a shrine where the game would have you put any disc into your system. Once it had been read, you’d re-insert the game and the data from whatever disc you had would somehow give you a unique creature. This was making me think about how there are interesting mechanics specific to certain games that can’t really be replicated, even if the game is re-released or remade. Monster Rancher 1 and 2 did get a modern re-release with "DX", for example, but replaced this system with one allowing you to just search for existing CD’s and games from the era using a database. While the convenience is nice, it takes away from some of the personal attachment to putting your own mixed CD’s, movies, demo discs, you name it into the system and feeling like you had discovered something special no one else had. Many games have gotten re-releases with these sorts of alterations made because the new hardware simply doesn’t work the same way it did compared to where the game originally came out. Many DS games which utilized the dual screens in interesting ways like Zero Escape, Boktai as mentioned on last week’s podcast, Dance Dance Revolution, or games that utilize motion control tech in unique ways are reminders to me that preserving games in their original form is just as important as making them broadly accessible in new ways through re-releases. To my knowledge, the only way to use the original Disk System in Monster Hunter is playing on that original console; it won’t even work through emulation software. What are some games that you remember utilizing interesting mechanics or ideas that can’t be replicated on modern hardware, or only worked on the systems they came out on?
