What up Allies, Something that's been on my mind recently is how there's been a shift in my relationship in gaming. I've been a gamer for over 25 years now, started around the time of Super Nintendo. I remember being so much more hyped when it came to new games coming out. I could sit for hours and play late into the night, and I would just have such an excitement when it came to my favorite hobby. However the past 5 years or so I've been feeling less enthusiastic about gaming. Don't get me wrong, I still love video games and they are still my biggest hobby but now that I'm pushing 38 I feel like the relationship has changed a lot then where I used to be. As an example, I'm way more tired now then I use to be so I don't play as much now, also because of work responsibilities. But the few hours I do have to game, a good portion of the time I'm about to play something I pass out on my couch. Also I feel like games are less exciting to me then they once were. Partly I think I've been gaming so long I've kind of seen it all and games less and less surprise me. Like a lot of games are good but I'm less blown away as I used to be. I think the last game that truly blew me away was FF 7 Rebirth. And because of this feeling I find it hard sometimes to start new games, usually due to less excitement and more out of obligation to move on to the next game and also just trying to get my mindset on a new game. So my question is this, how has your relationship with gaming changed now that you've gotten older? Is the excitement around gaming diminished somewhat over the years for yourself? And how do you navigate the complexities of gaming while also dealing with the growing responsibilities of life? Your perspectives may differ from mine since gaming is a major part of your careers but I'm curious of your insights. Love and respect.
