2024-11-06 22:51:12 +0000 UTCThe theme song is basically a parody of an out of touch white man writing something he thinks black people would sing about (because we would NEVER say “we’re happy and we’re singing and we’re colored”) then it cuts to what Shawn and Marlon really wanted to do when “Electric Relaxation” by A Tribe Called Quest was playing. This is basically what happened with Shawn, Marlon and the people in charge when doing the first season from giving them a script they didn’t like and not wanting John Witherspoon on the show even though Shawn and Marlon specifically wanted him as their father. They didn’t really start to do what they wanted until the next season. Despite these conflicts, they made the most of it and the first season is still funny, but the rest are even better.
