EXCLUSIVE REACTION: Interview with the Vampire 2x05

Comments

'Pieces of my life, gone, I knew who I was without those pieces.' As someone who bad some unexpected memories surface recently that line is so damn real.

Harrison

Ironically Armand's theory about getting the interview trashing Lestat published in '73 so that Lestat will come across it is basically what happens in the sequel "The Vampire Lestat." The rest of the books are his POV lol. Makes me wonder if Armand orchestrated this 2nd interview so he could tell the "We are SO in love" version to get back at Lestat

Amy Franklin

At the point of the Interview in San Fran Daniel had not yet been married nor yet met his first wife Alice. He is bi though.

Don't watch the movie until you finish this omg Benji nooooo lol

I just want to scream at the screen..don't watch the movie until you finish season 2!! There are a lot of changes from the book/og movie to the show but the foundation is pretty intact and you don't want to spoil anything for yourself!

Ooooo it’s getting good! Can’t wait for the next episode reaction! Y’all ain’t ready. This was so well done, we’ve been following Louis and Claudia’s narrative, trusting their perspective and feeling empathy for the moments that have been edited but what happens when that’s been tampered with? Ugh so good! Loved this show, it’s been a while since I’ve been so engrossed in the story

I loved season one but man does season 2 completely blow it out of the water. Especially this episode. So fucking good.

This is just straight up like my top 3 episode of televion I love it so much. Armand is such a freak in this and the fight between Louis and him is just phenomenal. I was sitting there with my mouth gaping the first time I watched it. About Daniel's sexuality, they briefly mention once or twice in the first season that Daniel and Louis met in a gay bar and from the 70s flashback we can assume he was at that place a lot since the bartender knew him by name and that he didn't have money. My assumption from how Daniel reacted (and it being insinuated that he "exchanged services" for drugs) was that yes he's not straight, but he hasn't exactly been living his life out and proud this entire time.

7 and 8 seem to be the most popular, but I also think 5 is one of the best.

Hands down, one of my favorite episodes due to the acting! This series both 1 and 2 are more “lived in” (Rizzo’s term) and more closely reflect Anne Rice’s vision. You really can’t even compare the movie to the series.

Amy Pond

The show creator, Rolin James and his writers are doing such a fantastic adaption. You don't need to watch the 1994 movie or read Anne Rices' "Vampire Chronicles" beforehand, to love the series.

Honestly their reaction to the argument between Louis and Armand was good

As the famous meme goes for this episode: Armand returning from his lunch to realise his subs have unionised... But honestly this is one of the best episodes of telly I've watched in a LONG time, the FAMOUS argument: Louis's "I'm the vampire Armand and my vampire daddy groomed me into a BITCH" followed by Armand gagging Louis with "My daughter, my sister, my throw pillow when he wouldn't look at me kindly, Lestat, lestat(x14)" (honestly all the actors desrved their applause for this ep), the revelations, the horror incited, the drama and mess... top tier.

The best episode of the show imo! Just amazing. So well written, acted and paced. The score was terrifying and Assad Zaman finally got to really flex as Armand. All of the 1st season he was mostly background and pretending to be a different character the whole time. This episode was the first thing they filmed of the new season and it's electric. Daniel is definitely implied to be bisexual! At the very least he was gay for pay in 70s and frequently exchanged sexual favors for drugs. But like Rizzo said, he doesn't seem very bothered by it and he spent the last like 50 years since the 1st interview thinking he slept with Louis which is why it's generally accepted he's bi. The argument between Louis and Armand is...a masterpiece. It's not a stretch to say that a large amount of the fandom have that entire fight memorized (I know I do lol). I'll never get over how good this episode is, the acting, the drama, the horror/suspense/mystery element, and it was just beautiful. Especially that moment where Daniel reads the words Louis said to him. Words that kept him alive for 50 years, gave him his confidence and successful career, but also destroyed his interpersonal relationships and family. Excited for you guys to watch the movie after this season! I have...a lot of thoughts on that movie, but it's fun to compare to the show! Overall framework of the plot is the same, but it's VERY different so you'll be in a treat!
