I watched it for the first time when I was in middle school and the anime ended when I was in my last year of university. I still remember that we met to understand the plot and we brought a whiteboard to write down important information and explain it to each other after every episode we watched ๐.

2025-06-01 05:07:30 +0000 UTCI know you're already trying your best to avoid spoilers, hints, and everything but I also want to give you some examples of what different types of spoilers can be. This is a bit long so if you read all of it, I appreciate it. If people are asking you specific questions about the anime like "What do you think of x in the anime?", "Why do you think character x is doing this?", "How do you think x relates to y?", or any other specific questions about the anime, these are also "hints" or spoilers. These questions are meant to handhold you or give you answers indirectly through questions by pointing you in the right direction and telling you what the "correct" questions are to think about. Only the most generic questions like "What do you think will happen next?", "How do you think the story will progress?", and questions like that are spoiler-free. If people are answering your questions or giving you information you may have missed, it may or may not be a spoiler. As people have said, all or most of your questions will be answered. Some things like people mentioning that it was Petra's badge/patch that Levi gave to Dieter is perfectly fine since it's just a small detail that is never revisited or important to the overall plot. But there is a lot of info that people may give you early (spoiling you) that you will eventually know and understand by just watching the anime. If people are giving you any info about the anime, then they had to have gotten that info by watching the anime, or they read about it somewhere online. But ALL info is derived from the anime/manga (obviously). My point is that if people are giving you info about the anime, it may be info that the show has not given yet, and if you continue watching, you will eventually be able to get and understand that same info. One example is in episode 21 when the Female Titan kicks Eren Titan's head off. There was a comment telling you that there was a major difference in that scene in the Blu-ray version where it shows a kick. But there was never a kick shown in any versions and it was intentional by the anime. The commenter thought this because they had seen the kick in episode 24 where it clearly shows the kick. This info is pretty significant as it would probably lead people to think "who is a character known for their kicks?" or "was there a scene of a character kicking?". You personally caught on that it was a kick (22:38 in your episode 21 reaction) but some others might not have known wtf just happened since the kick wasn't clearly shown. But as you can see, the anime will eventually revisit and explain things. Another example is in episode 17, when Armin is trying distract the Female Titan by going on a tangent about Eren rushing to his death in the right flank and telling Jean to avenge him and calling him by his nickname "suicidal bastard". I see a lot of reactors get confused about this scene and stay confused. You were also confused at first but caught on after a while (21:14 in your episode 17 reaction). If the reactor didn't understand that scene, I would see comments explaining the nickname and that scene. This is a HUGE hint because the Female Titan stopping her arm from from swinging at Jean due to Armin's tangent would mean the Female Titan knows who the "suicidal bastard" is and this would mean it is someone in the 104th trainees since only those people would know this nickname. It narrows down the list of suspects by a lot. Everything I just said is explained by Armin in episode 24 (10:06 in your reaction), so this is another case of the anime revisiting and explaining previous scenes. If you missed this info, that's perfectly fine and part of your authentic reaction. You would eventually learn this info by continuing watching the show. But you get rewarded by paying attention to the show and being able to understand things yourself. So it's really lame if the comments just give you all the hints and handhold you. I personally watch reactions because I want to see the reactor's OWN 100% unfiltered thoughts, predictions, and theories about the show. It's much more entertaining to see the reactor figure out things themselves without any help at all. So, people may forget when some info is shown or revealed and may accidentally spoil you by giving you that info before the show does. Even your proofreader might not understand if some info a comment is giving you is a spoiler or not and accidentally let those comments through. I'm not saying your proofreader doesn't understand but just that anyone can be forgetful or not understand whether something is a spoiler or not. Only people who have a very thorough and in-depth understanding of the show will be more likely not to accidentally spoil things. So keep doing whatever you can to avoid spoilers because they are everywhere. Other than comments, there are Youtube thumbnails, attack on titan ads, google searches for attack on titan, people's user profiles and names. Just seeing an image or info of a character can be a very big spoiler. ANYTHING that is attack on titan related can be a spoiler. I think you said you bought the colossal titan costume because you saw an ad, you could've got spoiled if the ad was something else.
