In Deadpool With a System [11]

Dane’s eyes widened. He pulled Ajax’s hand away. “Are you saying my farts can change someone’s genes?”

The sudden phrasing caught Ajax off guard.

The bald warden and Angel, who had been listening, immediately understood what had happened earlier.

[Healing Ability +10 (Current Healing Ability: 35)]

“Yes,” Ajax admitted, regaining his composure. “After your gas spread through the air, three test subjects who had been injected with mutant genes underwent sudden transformations.”

Dane frowned. “And what did they mutate into?”

Ajax ignored his question. “One person mutating could be a coincidence. But three? That means whatever you release is highly reactive.”

Dane crossed his arms. “So what, you’re planning to collect my gas and use it to trigger more mutations?”

“Something like that.”

“That’s fine by me,” Dane said, grinning. “As long as you feed me well, I guarantee you’ll have all the gas you need. But if I’m not eating right, my supply is going to be… limited.”

Angel struggled to maintain her serious expression, barely holding back laughter.

Ajax, on the other hand, was far from amused. But despite his clear annoyance, he chose to let Dane off the hook.

[You successfully scored a free meal.]

….

“Perfect timing. It’s dinner time,” Ajax said. “Angel, take him to eat.”

If this experiment had any chance of succeeding, he wasn’t going to be stingy about a single meal.

Without a word, Angel stepped forward and unlocked Dane’s restraints. The handcuffs and shackles clattered to the floor, freeing his limbs.

The moment he was unbound, Dane wasted no time. He jumped off the bed, stretched his arms, and then—without warning—began performing a full set of old-school radio gymnastics, as if answering the call of an era long gone.

Only now did he truly experience the joy of physical freedom.

“Move it,” Angel said, already turning to leave.

Dane, grinning, trotted after her like an eager puppy.

Meanwhile, the bald warden’s gaze remained locked onto Dane, his fists clenched. Beneath the surface, he was barely suppressing the urge to kill.

“Ajax, you’re just going to let him walk away?” he asked through gritted teeth. “Walter died because of him! Walter was B-Zone’s most valuable doctor! Not to mention, a bunch of my men were either knocked out cold or turned into a vomiting mess because of his stench!”

“Think rationally,” Ajax replied with a smirk, patting the warden’s shoulder. “If his… emissions truly accelerate the mutation process, then Walter’s death wasn’t in vain. In fact, even if more Walters had to die, I’d say it’s worth it.”

With that, he turned and walked away.

The bald warden stood frozen, watching Ajax’s retreating figure with clenched teeth.

“You heartless freak…” he muttered under his breath. Then, his eyes shifted back toward the direction Dane had gone. “But I’m not like you. That bastard will pay. I don’t care if I can’t kill him… I’ll make sure he suffers in other ways.”

….

Inside the elevator, Dane and Angel ascended to the third floor.

As the doors slid open, the dim underground atmosphere gave way to bright, well-lit hallways. The air was fresh, the floors spotless.

After spending so much time in a suffocating prison, just walking through this corridor made Dane’s mood lighten.

“You guys are all built like tanks, so I’m guessing the food here is pretty decent?” he asked, rubbing his empty stomach. He had been starving for a while now.

“You’ll see when we get there,” Angel replied flatly.

“Do they have Chinese food?”

“No.”

“Then is there at least a menu? Or is it like a buffet where you get to pick what you want? Or maybe there’s a cafeteria lady who serves fixed meals?”

Angel suddenly stopped and shoved him against the wall. Her eyes, sharp and intense, bored into his.

“This isn’t a restaurant where you order whatever you want,” she snapped. “Eat your damn food, finish your job, and don’t waste my time.”

Dane blinked. “Uh… But if I have to shut up as soon as we go inside, how am I supposed to order food?”

[You have officially become the person Angel wants to punch the most.]

[If not for the experiment, she would have already body-slammed you.]

[Strength +10 (Current Strength: 50)]

Before Angel could lose her patience, a mocking voice echoed from down the hallway.

“Well, well, well… Look who it is. Angel, gone for a few days and you bring back a scrawny little boyfriend?”

Dane turned to see a man and two women approaching. The man was massive—his frame even bulkier than Angel’s—and his hair and beard were both dyed an unnatural shade of green.

The woman on his left had short pink hair and a sturdy build, though not as imposing as the man’s. The woman on his right, however, was… unremarkable. No striking features, no intimidating presence—except for the fact that her face was, well… long.

The moment they spoke, their words were laced with hostility.

“Look at him,” the green-haired man sneered. “That’s gotta be the most pathetic, spineless face I’ve ever seen.”

The pink-haired woman snorted. “Angel must have scared him into submission. Guess it’s the only way she’d ever find a boyfriend.”

Normally, Angel had a reputation for having an explosive temper.

But this time, her expression remained unreadable.

Angel let go of Dane and turned her cold gaze toward the three troublemakers.

“He’s not my boyfriend.”

The pink-haired woman smirked. “Not your boyfriend? Then why were you standing so close? Looked like you were about to kiss.”

“Maybe she’s just been single for too long,” the long-faced woman added with a mocking laugh.

The three of them burst into laughter, their voices echoing through the hallway.

Dane tilted his head. “What the hell are you three fruits talking about?”

The laughter stopped. The green-haired man narrowed his eyes. “Fruits? Are you talking about us? Or is your eyesight just terrible?”

From the way he looked at Dane, it was obvious he didn’t consider him a threat at all. Compared to his own massive frame, Dane’s leaner build didn’t even register as competition.
