Yeah plus Negan also lives on in the comics not to say the show always follows the comics cause Carl also lives but i’m glad they did make the decision to keep Negan around he really does the make the show more interesting again going forward

The second comment here I absolutely agree is what the show is going for. I can't really say more than that when it comes to Negan, but I will say I'm glad the show didn't kill him in season 8. If not only just because JDM is fantastic in this role. I'm sure that also factored in to the decision to keep Negan around. That happens often with characters that are played by good actors.

At the end of the day, Negan had a reason for killing. He had a code, as messed up as it was. And though he killed in the most brutal ways, it served a purpose - for most groups, and even for Rick at first who was pretty much at rock bottom until they all decided they HAD to fight back. Every single “leader” (villain or not) in this show has justified their actions as a means to an end. Go back to Shane killing Otis and tying to take out Rick - he 100% believed he was doing what was needed to protect the group, Lori & Carl. This philosophy from Rick is about as forward-thinking as we’ve seen in the show, where it’s about getting back to what we had before the fall and some type of justice - not “eye for an eye,” but a system of law & order and justice. At the end of the day, ~3.5 years in at this point, Rick is trying his best to get back to his cop roots. If not, there’s always going to be one more person to kill because of this reason or that reason. It’s a slippery slope.

I think the hanging man was just a guy who killed himself. So close to finding a safe group but gave up. Next episode though is imo one of the best of the show, minus one nitpick. Can't wait for your reactions to it all. I do agree with you on basically all negan scenes lol, I feel like they really dumb down the characters when they share the screen with him lmao. The way I justify Rick's stance on Negan is, he's still grieving Carl's loss. We see how Rick breaks during grief with Lori and others before. With Carl he had a sense of purpose to serve Carl after his death and it's only been a year and a half since. The whole "everyone died for nothing" is also eh, everyone DID die for nothing. Negan killed them for nothing. Negan dying does the dead justice imo. It's illogical and not practical at all but I get it. And I get for Michonne she's trying to support Rick and probably feels the same grief. It doesn't help that Carl's letter isn't even in character for Carl himself lmao. And everyone else just allows it because Rick's the "leader." I suppose. With Maggie too, I think she wants him to suffer the same way Glenn did. She wants to brutalise him, which not smart buuut he does deserve it lol.
